Life Lessons from the Boulder
When I saw this huge boulder recently on a pheasant hunt with my husband, it stopped me in my tracks. Not only was it beautiful and unique, but I immediately imagined the metaphors within it. In all of our lives, there are big cracks in the walls, yet somehow, we keep moving. In Japan, one might even fill those cracks with gold to highlight their beauty- the beauty of the struggle, the challenges, and the resilience that grows from hard things. The beauty of putting back together what may be "broken."
As an entrepreneur, your life doesn't hold off and say, "Let me give you space and calm and peace and quiet for your business." Nope. Life just keeps coming at you. And the cracks happen. Sometimes because of personal choices we make, and sometimes because of outside circumstances. I've had my share of both this year, as I'm sure you all have too.
As a coach, I remind people that they are whole, creative, resourceful and capable. While we all have cracks, we are not broken. It is from this place of loving ALL of our selves completely that healing can happen.
The beauty is in continuing the journey, no matter how hard. I work on speaking to myself with love and compassion. I look to my loved ones for support. I lean in hard to trusting the Universe- the bigger plan for us mere mortals. When I can open up to curiosity, my heart softens. Rather than feeling braced and tight, I feel hopeful. I express gratitude for the privilege of this journey- both as an entrepreneur and as a human walking this earth.
So whatever you're up against, I want to remind you that you are not alone. You are whole, creative, resourceful, and capable. I am rooting for you.
